Ecuador Update

Healing in Quito

     A little over three months ago God began to move in the hearts of the elders in our central church here in Quito of the need to pray for people. At first the leadership began to get together on Tuesday mornings. God soon spoke to them to find a way to have a meeting expressly to pray for healing and they decided to make the sacrifice to come an hour earlier at 7:00 am on Sunday mornings and the results have been great. Forty to fifty new people show up each time seeking prayer and God has manifested himself with notable healings from simple headaches to cancers. Many of those who come are unsaved who are desperately looking for an answer.

      Beatrice, a young mother of two came invited by sisters from the congregation. She had not given her life to Christ and she had cancer and had been through three chemotherapy series but nothing was working. She is from Loja a city located in the southern part of Ecuador. Seven elders prayed for her and when she went for another series of chemotherapy, the doctor checked her blood work and discovered that the cancer was gone. Later her parents were so touched that they came all the way from Loja and ended up giving their lives to Jesus just as she had. The leaders have helped Beatrice's parents get involved with the Verbo church in Loja.

      Another six year old girl came with her parents, invited by her cousin. She had had a ruptured appendix that was not discovered in time and developed peritonitis that damaged the stomach. The doctors operated and tried to clean her insides as best they could and essentially sent her home to die from a cancer that had further complicated the situation. As you can imagine her parents were desperate for their daughter. Different ones prayed for her and within a week she was completely well. Her parents received salvation and now participate in a home group as do a number of her cousins as the Gospel is growing in her family.

      Every week new ones come to this meeting because they hear that God is physically healing people. Each Sunday people receive Jesus and become a part of the church as a result of these prayers. Please keep us in prayer, that God would cause this ministry to grow.
